Katrina and Oria are a one-of-a-kind couple, their wedding was a one-of-a-kind day, and we are so excited to be sharing this blog! From beginning to end there were so many incredible moments! Before we get into their wedding day story let me share their love story!
Katrina and Oria first met at a high school bonfire, where both of their schools from neighboring towns were attending. Katrina caught Oria’s eye from across the fire and that’s when it all began. After a successful first date of pond fishing, (accompanied by Katina’s best friend and Oria’s best friend to calm the nerves,) they began the journey that led them through life together for the next eight years. After moving and making a home in Texas, the two became engaged during a rainy Sunday morning. Only after agreeing to get tacos afterward, Katrina made her way over to a mural at Hope Gallery in downtown Austin, where not so coincidentally an O+K was spray-painted on the wall and Oria dropped onto one knee to ask for Katrina’s hand in marriage.
When we asked them to ask each other how they knew they had found “the one” their answers warmed our hearts. Oria said he knew Katrina was the one, “Because you’re not like anyone else I’ve ever met. You’re different. I’m different. That’s why we work. You are my kind of different.” Katrina answered, ” because he makes me laugh even when I want to scream. And he’s the most unique, courageous, beautifully sensitive man that I will never find in any other person.”
Katrina and Oria’s wedding was held at Red Barn 20 in Cazenovia. From the moment I walked through the door of where Katrina and her wedding party was getting ready and heard the theme song of Parks and Rec playing, I felt right at home! That same feeling continued throughout the rest of the day, Katrina and Oria, along with their wedding party and family were so welcoming and created a warm and comforting atmosphere! With tons of silly moments in the morning, while the two got ready for their day, there were surely just as many emotional moments tied in. In particular when Katrina and Oria exchanged letters to each other and read them back to back, even with the room filled with their wedding party and four other photographer and videographers it almost seemed like they were the only two in the room. If you could believe it, the tears weren’t done yet. Their ceremony held under a massive tree was another rollercoaster of emotions, laughing and crying, the vows and promises they made to continue loving each other as much and more than they did the day before. Then onto their reception, where Katrina and Oria made their way around to family for hugs and kisses but still made time for the best part, the dance floor! The most wonderful thing was watching as family and friends enjoyed their time together and all the smiling faces! As the sun was setting, everyone made their way from the dance floor and their lawn games to watch as Katrina and Oria made the plunge into the pool! Fearless and full of joy from their perfect day they ended things with a splash!
