UPSTATE NY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

We put together this venue guide to share our perspective as wedding photographers with over 10 years of experience capturing weddings across New York. Consider it your insider scoop on the venue!

Kuyahoora Resort Wedding Venue

The Kuyahoora Lodge & Resort is located about 20 minutes from the NY Thruway exit in Utica, right inside the Adirondack Park. That means you get the mix of convenience and wilderness vibes all in one.

This venue can handle grand weddings with up to 250 guests or smaller ones with closer to 50. No matter the size, the resort gives you flexibility, privacy, and some seriously good backdrops.

Venue Key Spaces & Areas

Ceremony

With Hinckley Lake and the Adirondacks as your backdrop, it’s easy to see why couples fall for this space.

Food & Drink

The on-site restaurant, Rocky’s On The Lake, is a great option for rehearsal dinners and brunches. You can also bring in catering or even host and prepare your own food right on the property.

Reception & Cocktails

The grounds are flexible enough to set up your dining and cocktail hours the way you want, whether that’s lakeside, under a tent, or somewhere in between.

Photo Spots

The property is big enough that you’re not limited to one or two options. You’ve got lakefront views, wooded corners, wide-open spaces, and tucked-away little paths. That variety makes it easy to keep photos feeling fresh all day without wandering too far from the celebration.

Getting Ready Locations

  • Bridal Suite: A comfy, private suite where you can spread out, stock the kitchen with your favorite drinks and snacks, and just relax while getting ready. It’s set up so you don’t feel cramped while hair, makeup, and laughter are all happening at once.

  • Other Lodges & Cabins: The resort has multiple lodges and cabins that can be used by the wedding party, family, or friends. That means no one is scrambling around town the morning of the wedding—everyone’s right there.

Accomodations

When it comes to overnight options, Kuyahoora Resort makes things pretty simple—you don’t really need to leave. Whether you want to turn your wedding into a full weekend getaway or just have everyone close by the night of, the resort has plenty of space to keep your crew together.

  • The Lodge: At 13,000 square feet, the main lodge feels more like a wedding retreat house than just a “place to stay.” Six bedrooms, ten bathrooms, three bars, a game room, an elevator, and a deck with lake views. It’s the kind of place where people stay up late swapping stories and then roll right into wedding day mode the next morning.

  • Overnight Accommodations: The private resort can host up to 100 guests overnight, which turns your wedding into a multi-day hangout instead of just a single-day event. If you’ve ever dreamed of stretching out the celebration, this makes it possible.

Reception & Cocktails

The grounds are flexible enough to set up your dining and cocktail hours the way you want, whether that’s lakeside, under a tent, or somewhere in between.

Celebrate, Stay, and Soak It All In!

A Kuyahoora Resort is more than just a backdrop—it’s a whole experience. You’re not only getting a place to say “I do,” but also a chance to spend real time with your favorite people in one setting.

If you’re looking for a wedding that blends the calm of the Adirondacks with the convenience of an all-in-one resort, Kuyahoora delivers. And from a photographer’s perspective, it’s the kind of place that makes capturing your story feel effortless.
