Ashely + Alex’s at The Devyn

If you’ve talked to me in the past few months, I’ve probably, definitely mentioned that Tom and I were shooting a wedding in FLORIDA! Yes, the home of palm trees, warm breeze, and Disney! Of course, we were thrilled, because in New York we are on about round 105 of Winter snow storms and 5-degree weather. In fact, as I type this I’m watching icy flakes fall from the sky! So for all the freezing cold people up North, hope this blog warms you up, and to all the family in Florida- can we please come back, and when?

Now let’s talk about the sweethearts, Alex and Ashely! They fall into the category of family for us, even if they “technically” aren’t. Our family has grown up with the Harts, forming a life-long bond spending time with them as our Neighbors when we would take trips down as toddlers! Fast forward decades later and we are even closer than before, and when Tom and I make our annual winter trip down to the Sunny South we always know that we have a home away from home and family to share our bbq dinners with! Ashely and Alex are a dynamic duo, and it’s easy to see that their energy brings in a community of other amazing people to their lives! They are generous, sweet and so much fun to be around, and when it came time for the wedding day there was kindheartedness and warmth all around (not just the kind from the sun!)

The day itself was a tidal wave of excitement, from morning mischief during the groomsmen’s suspender photo shoot, to a dress hanging expedition where I thought every noise I heard was Gators when they always turned out to be Geckos. Even throughout all the silly parts of the day, the tone of faith and family shined brighter than everything. I loved that Ashely’s mother, grandmother, and her (wildly adorable) great-grandmother were all a part of the big day. To me, those are some of the greatest parts of a wedding, the generations and love of a family! Ashely’s grandmother even handmade that incredible veil, it really doesn’t get more special than that! Of course, right when I thought I had all the love that my heart could take, everyone gathered for a prayer before the ceremony, and the support that you could feel given to the soon to be newlyweds was powerful!

Every single part of Alex and Ashely’s wedding was a dream, we’re going to cross our fingers that they will renew their vows for years to come! Thank you, Ashely and Alex, for sharing your beautiful day with us, next time we’re down we look forward to some corn nuggets and jeep cruising!
