Jenn + Mike

We consider ourselves lucky to know Jenn and Mike, and even more lucky to be able to be a part of their wedding day. From the first time, we met, to the months leading up to their Castle wedding we could always count on them to tag us in anything “The Office” related and always felt more like friends than just photographers! So as I blog their wedding day, and sip my coffee (out of the mug they got us) I can hear the theme song from our favorite show playing in the background, and it feels like the perfect way to relive their wedding day in words.

Let me start at – none other than- the beginning. Tom and pulled up on Greystone, a real-life castle, and were in awe all over again after two wedding seasons of being away. We were having a field day as we explored the courtyard and rediscovered so many beautiful locations for photos. Just as we were heading back in, we heard the ladies footsteps down the stairs, so in we went for a “reunited and it feels so good” hug! Jenn had this enormous soulful smile painted across her face and I can honestly say I did not see that smile leave her face the whole day! As the ladies were a bustle in the bridal suite, Mike and his groomsmen were across the hall playing pool and cracking inside jokes. The shift of emotions that happens during the morning of a wedding is so fun to be a part of, you can step from one room where its calm, another it’s energetic, and either way you know that you are part of something incredible!

Just between the two rooms that Jenn and Mike got ready in was the chapel, so as guest began to arrive you could hear it getting louder and louder as time grew closer and closer to the ceremony. As everyone subsided from a rumble to a hush, the music began and Jenn met Mike at the end of the aisle for their vows. It was an intimate ceremony and you could hear a pin drop, (or a chair squeak.) The seriousness of the ceremony was broken when after the first official kiss as husband and wife, Jenn broke into a little happy dance, and quite possibly the sweetest thing ever!

While the guests headed upstairs for the cocktail hour we took the newlyweds outside with their bridal party for photos and had nonstop laughs as we got everyone set up for a group photo and Mike and his groomsmen surprised the girls with a water gun fight, and then when the girls ‘tossed” their bouquets right at me, when I clearly picked the wrong choice of wording- or maybe the best, because everyone was cracking up after that!

The reception had special moments from the sweet speeches that really showed how special Jenn and Mike make everyone in their lives feel, dances that had us tearing up (Mike even shared a special dance with his grandma,) and the shoe game, which is you haven’t seen, look it up on youtube, they always make me laugh! When the dance floor was opened I even got to boogie with the bride, that is right before the mosh-pit ensued and then Jenn got to crowd surf- yes you heard that right, the bride, in the gown, moshed and crowd surfed, can you get any more badass than that?!

Jenn and Mike, we are so happy you invited us to be a part of your wedding day! “Webster’s Dictionary defines ‘wedding’ as ‘the fusing of two metals with a hot torch.’ Well, you know something? I think you guys are two medals. Gold medals.” We can’t wait for our trivia night and doggy play date!
